Good morning from sunny Iowa!
The “boys” (Galen, Cody and Cleason) are making cheese, the “girls” (Sharon and Sarah Louise) are packaging 150 lbs. of Quark. They will cut cheese later. David has off today and JR and I are trying to catch up with things in the office and whatever else has been neglected.
Rufus is in New York City. He flew out early Wednesday morning. He will be going with the distributors some of the time. Today over lunch he’ll be at Lucy’s Whey, (Chelsea Market), Friday at Dean & Deluca in Soho (10-1), and Saturday at Zabar’s. He will spend Saturday night and all day Sunday with his parents in Ephrata, PA. (Lancaster County). Monday he’ll drive to Hagerstown, Maryland where he will meet with Dale Martin for meetings Tuesday & Wednesday. (See “Where’s Rufus” for details.) Thursday morning he’ll fly home from Baltimore. I can imagine he will be totally exhausted.
And this time I am happy to stay at home! I plan to make good use of any spare time I can get and piece a quilt. I finished embroidering one for daughter Rose, now want to get it sewn together and put in the frame. Hope to invite people to help quilt on Tuesday. I really enjoy doing quilts and haven’t touched any for the last 2 years. So, am especially glad to be doing one again. We’ll see how well I make my goal.
Last week Rufus and I drove to Dallas, Texas, for 2 Food Shows. We enjoyed the drive down, were gone from Monday to Thursday evening. It was nice and warm there on Tuesday. We didn’t get to see much, but picked up a few more accounts for our cheese. So, it was a worthwhile trip. I was glad to be home again.
Grandson Jeremy, 5 month old, (son of JR & Crystal) is getting around in his walker. Crystal has a vine on a stand, he has all the leaves pulled off on the one side, she caught him at it 5 times yesterday. He is very active, but sleeps all night. We sure enjoy having him close by.
Our other grandchildren live in Withee, WI, so we don’t see them as often. Dau. Jane Marie and husband Randall have 2, Leon Earl, 3 ½ and Sheila, 7 mo. (They are the ones who lost 20 month old Kenneth in Sept.) Dau. Rose and Dennis have 2 girls, Mary Ann, 2 and Lori, 4 mo.
Son Mark will be starting a part-time job next week taking care of hogs. He likes working with animals and is looking forward to it. (That way he won’t have to pasteurize every morning!) This coming weekend he plans to go to Withee, WI with 3 of his friends, and go skiing. He will stay at Randall’s the 3 nights he is there.
Rufus has more demos scheduled for March. He enjoys doing them and we can mostly manage at the plant without him, as long as he keeps the “big picture” and overall management going.
Here’s hoping for an early spring!
Till next time,
Jane
